Toowoomba Grammar School team leader Raymond Harris was named as Cleanworks’ 2018 Cleaner of the Year at a special Excellence Awards event held on 5 July.
Hosted at the Victoria Park Golf Club, the Cleanworks Excellence Awards were a celebration of the tireless efforts and ongoing achievements of our cleaners. The event was attended by nearly 50 finalists and included the presentation of a number of long service and runner up awards in addition to the Cleaner of the Year.
Why did we choose Raymond?
Though the selection process was, as always, challenging due to the number of overachieving cleaning staff we are blessed with, Raymond was ultimately selected from Cleanworks’ pool of 219 cleaners due to his exemplary attitude, performance and team-oriented attitude.
“We’ve received glowing client feedback about Raymond quite a number of times,” said Cleanworks General Manager Troy Stahlhut.
“He has a reputation for going far above and beyond what’s expected of him. He is quick to respond to requests and nothing is ever a problem. He is also held in very high regard by his fellow cleaners, which is an important indication that he’s not just delivering results, he’s carrying himself as a professional and treating those around him well.”
As the 2018 Cleaner of the Year, Raymond receives a luxury accommodation package at the Hilton Surfers Paradise in addition to the Cleaner of the Year trophy (pictured below). 2018 marks the second year in which Cleanworks has presented the Cleaner of the Year award – the inaugural trophy being claimed by Julie Kendall.
Cleanworks Director Kelly Broderick said the organisation has been very pleased by the response to its cleaner reward and recognition program. “Far too often, cleaners are the last people to be recognised in a workplace but we are committed to bucking that trend,” she said.
“Our people work hard and they deserve to be praised and rewarded for those efforts. We’ve had a great response to the various monthly, quarterly and annual prizes we offer for our cleaners and look forward to continuing to recognise our people for the great things they are doing for Cleanworks.”
What is ‘Cleaner of the Year’?
Cleaner of the Year is the apex prize within Cleanworks’ reward system which is designed to incentivise and recognise consistently high-standards of cleaning, outstanding procedural and reporting compliance, and an attitude characterised by teamwork, problem-solving and positivity. 2018 marks the second year in which Cleanworks has presented this award, following the presentation of the innaugural Cleaner of the Year award during International Cleaners Day in 2017.
Does Cleanworks present any other awards?
